Busy woman gets job done!

Artie Ange is no stranger to the coast. She came with her late husband Howard some thirty years ago to venture into a multiplicity of businesses. Included were food store in Nags Head and Manteo and numerous spin-offs popular at that time. They raised two daughters, Sanfra and Harla.

            No strangers to hard work, both Artie and Howard came from farm backgrounds, she in Chowan County and he from Washington County.

            Over time, they reduced the stake in operating multiple businesses and Artie became more fascinated with the real estate community in which she had, with Howard, played a sidebar part in location and operation of their businesses. She joined Atlantic Realty in 1998 and serves as broker in charge of the Corolla office.

            Howard died in 2004 following a lengthy illness.

            During an assembly of realtors this spring in Wilmington, she was recognized for accomplishments, including status as GRI, RRS, CRS. She has served as director NCAR (REEF) Region I, a term which expires in 2007. She was designated OBAR’s Realtor of the Year for 1996.

            Artie served as chairman of Currituck County Chamber of Commerce, 2001-2 and is currently a member of the board. She is Rotary Assistant District Governor of Area 1, District 7720 for two years. She served, under appointment by Senator Marc Basnight, on the First Flight Commission through 2004.

            In addition to the many involvements as noted, she continues to own and operate Ballast Rock Shopping Center in Manteo, occupied as Artie notes “with four good tenants.”
